This book is part of Joey W. Hill’s Knights of the Board Room series but you don’t have to read the previous books to thoroughly and completely enjoy this one. It has the characters from the previous stories in it but they are, for the most part, minor characters and do not play a major role in the storyline of this book.
I absolutely love Ms Hill’s Knights of the Board Room series and couldn’t imagine how she was continuing it. After all, all the men had found their woman, so who was left? Their secretary, Janet who is just as interesting and complex as any of the men whom the previous stories were about. And, Janet is a Dom just like they are. Interestingly enough, the man who grabs her interest isn’t really in the BDSM lifestyle and is definitely not a sub. Max is a former SEAL and the driver for the company. Janet and Max are not going to fall in love easily. Both have secrets, are private people and have wants that the other may not be able to handle. Trust doesn’t come easy for Janet and Max will take nothing less. The give and take that happens is intense and as they face their past so they can move into the future, things may just fall apart. BDSM is can be about stretching your limits but Janet and Max are going to have to step way outside their comfort zones! Can they work their way through it with no one getting hurt or killed?
Janet doesn’t know why Max has attracted her attention. Not only is he a bit younger than her but he’s definitely not a submissive. Still, he intrigues her until she finally has to act on it. Max doesn’t care that Janet is a few years older than him. She’s hot and plays a major part in some of his fantasies. He’s seen her in her Dominatrix role and knows that he could never be the submissive that she usually plays with. Yet, he wants her. As they slowly begin to explore their mutual attraction to see where it might go, not only do their personal secrets and demons get in the way but a man who played an unknowing role in both of their lives reappears throwing everything into a deadly chaos. Can they come out of this together or will it rip apart their relationship?
Word of warning. Not only is there a lot of BDSM and some big time violence but this book will keep your interest to the point you can’t put it down. So, expect to be up late at night as well as trying to read when you should be working!
Janet prefers her men submissive, her relationships confined to a club environment. Which is why her attraction to former Navy SEAL Max doesn’t make a lot of sense. There isn’t a submissive bone in his honed, muscular body, suggesting that her interest in him is best indulged as a private fantasy. After a crisis situation reveals a different side of them both, the attraction becomes mutual, explosive and undeniable. They take the plunge, willing to see if the give-and-take of their unexpected relationship can satisfy their deepest desires. Unfortunately, ghosts from their past might take the reins from them both, destroying the balance of power before their love can find a way to tip the scales.
