Nick Blackthorne has been at the top of the music charts for more than a decade. He’s not really produced much in the past couple of years but that’s beginning to change. However, after getting an invitation to a wedding, he starts thinking about what he’s lost along the way. The biggest thing he lost is the love of his life, Lauren Robbins. He can’t think of anyone he would rather take to the wedding, if he can even locate her. Besides, she’s probably married and has children. He’ll just have to take them all to the wedding.
Lauren isn’t married, though she does have a 15 year old son. She’s become a kindergarten teacher back in the same town she grew up and met Nick. She’s happy with her life and loves her son. She hasn’t told him who his father is though her son looks just like him.
As Lauren heads home from school, she is startled by a man calling her name. Without thinking, she swings her satchel and knocks the man out. Nick hits the ground and Lauren has to face her past, but first she has to get Nick off the cold ground and to medical help!
With the help of her good friend, the local vet, Lauren is able to move Nick and have someone with medical training check him out. When he recovers, Lauren discovers that his kisses still go straight to her head. She doesn’t want this, doesn’t want Nick in her life and she sure doesn’t want Nick to know about their son! Now what?
What happens is an absolutely awesome story that had me at the edge of my seat for most of it. This story was wonderful and though this story is not totally connected to any series, characters from two different series appear in it. What a great way to blend series and stories.
The characters were perfect. Nick was the typical rock star, lot of girls, alcohol and partying. He recognizes that and realizes why Lauren and he broke up. In fact, he even wrote a hit song about it. Nick knows he’s been self centered but he wants to change. The problem is after being that way for so long, can he? Lauren loved Nick with her whole heart but she didn’t love the girls that threw themselves at him. She couldn’t do that lifestyle. Her dreams of Nick singing and her teaching just didn’t correspond with reality as Nick’s carrier took off. She does love teaching and has raised their son with love. She’s a mother first though and she won’t let her son be used and exploited.
The sex was hot and interesting. Lauren does have a 15 year old son who does have a life too and does live in her house. Poor Nick isn’t use to having to arrange sex around a child. This problem does cause some interesting situations. However, regardless of where or when the sparks that created that child are definitely still there and Nick is having a hard time keeping his hands, and other parts, off of Lauren. Things don’t’ always get interrupted and these scenes will have you just as hot and bothered as the characters!
Wonderful, amazing, riveting are just some of the adjectives that I could use to describe this book. I fell in love with it from the first page and stayed glued to this story until it ended. I laughed and cried and worried and rejoiced while reading this superb story. Everything blended together to make a story that was believable and kept you interest. Things weren’t always smooth and didn’t always go as planned but each twist within the story brought more interest to it.
If you’ve never read a Lexxie Couper book, read this one! You’ll soon be hocked to her style and be looking for more.
If you’re a fan of Lexxie Couper, you’ll recognize the characters making a guest appearance in this story. You’ll also want to go back to visit them again.
This has to be one of the best stories I’ve read this year and I know I’ll be rereading it soon.
His music moves the world. Can his love move her heart?
Nick Blackthorne knows all about words of love. They’re the reason he’s the world’s biggest rock star. The irony? He turned his back on love a long time ago, lured away by the trappings of fame.
An invitation to a friend’s wedding is a stark reminder of how meaningless his life has become. When he enters that church, there’s only one woman he wants on his arm—the one he walked out on a lifetime ago. But first he has to find her, even if all she accepts from him is an apology.
Kindergarten teacher Lauren Robbins once had what every woman on the planet desires. Nick. Their passion was explosive, their romance the stuff of songs…and it took fifteen years to get over him. Then out of the blue Nick turns up at her door, and all those years denying her ache for him are shattered with a single, smoldering kiss.
But molten passion can’t hide the secret she’s kept for all these years. Because it’s not just her heart on the line anymore…and not just her life that’ll be rocked by the revelation.
Warning: Remember your first crush on a rock star? Now add smoldering sex, a raw and undeniable passion, soul-shattering orgasms. And secrets…
