For a novella less than 50 pages long, “Man Hungry” packs quite an incendiary punch. When Jessica gets fixed up on a blind date with her friend’s cousin Justin, neither of them go in expecting much of anything. After all, he’s a lawyer (boring! stuffy!) and she’s a kindergarten teacher (desperate! spinster!), so how could they possibly find each other attractive? The fun twist on the story comes when Justin decides to pretend he doesn't know who Jessica is, and begs her to “save him” from the “man-hungry schoolmarm” he’s supposed to be meeting that night. His prank works all too well, and their mutual heat leads them back to Justin’s bedroom for a glorious night of sex. But is that all they have, and will the prank backfire when the truth comes out?
What I loved most about “Man Hungry” was the initial setup of how the hero and heroine met in the bar and had their preconceptions about each other blown out of the water. What I did not love was the fact that they only used a condom on their first night and never again thereafter without even any claims of being “clean” or use of an alternate method of birth control. I was also put off when Justin’s reaction to Jessica’s reassurance that this was her first one night stand was visible relief, especially when he was the one who had pushed for her to go home with him that first night. But overall I did enjoy “Man Hungry” and will definitely be reading more of Sabrina York’s work in the future.
Blind dates are hell. At least that’s what Justin thinks before he’s set up with Jessica, a sizzling-hot schoolteacher who captures his heart—or at least his lust—at first sight. He can’t let their date fail so he does what any sane, rational prankster would do—he pretends he’s there to meet someone else. A man-hungry schoolmarm.
Jessica knows full well that Justin is her date, so she decides to have a little fun and show him exactly how man hungry a “schoolmarm” can be. And Jessica’s hunger is all for Justin. On the dance floor, atop a table, up against a door…she just can’t get enough.
