Major Annie Forbes has seen many dangerous things during the War in Iraq, yet none have prepared her for what she sees outside the hospital. She thought Iraq was dangerous but the carnage outside scares her the most. Annie never expected a terrorist in her hospital or a man like Mason “Mace” O’Keefe to be there with her throughout the ordeal. Here is a guy who she would have gone with if her life wasn’t centered on her work. She has no idea why Mace is in the hospital just knows that without him she would have been a goner. Having him near her makes her feel safe and protected, which is unusual for a tough woman like her. Can she survive this night knowing she might never see Mace again?
Mace and Annie are two people who have the same career yet different opinions about their career life. One can’t wait to go and the other is afraid of what will happen. Mace is definitely not your usual military man for he’s got a lot of soul searching in him. Now Annie is one woman who is confused about her life. Together these two were great and the action in the background was awesome. You have so much adrenaline going through it’s a wonder how you will survive. Arianna did an excellent job in creating two people so desperate for love they sparkle throughout the whole book. Loved it.
As Major Annie Forbes heads home from her shift as a nurse at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, the last thing she expects is to be running for her life.
With the help of Mason “Mace” O’Keefe, an injured helicopter pilot, Annie must find a way to save the hospital from being blown up by a fanatic terrorist group. As the danger heats up, so does the attraction between Mace and Annie.
Now they just have to survive long enough to see if their smoldering attraction is just adrenaline or something more.
