Matt Harris' company is struggling due to an economic downturn. Enter Dominic Taylor, Matt's friendly (with the the occasional benefit thrown in) rival. Dom presents Matt with a bet. The bet, which puts Matt's backside quite literally on the line, could save Matt's company - if Matt wins.
Things change between the two men as the deadline draws near, changing not only the dynamics between them but raising the stakes as well. Whatever happens, things will have changed between Matt and Dom, but will it be for the better? Or will it be for the worse?
The story was engaging and the characters believable. I liked reading it and found it to be a pretty well-paced novel. Having said that, there was a certain half-a-spark missing for me in the reading. I really can't place it on any one thing, as the writing was excellent, the characters great, and the kind of friendly competitiveness within the field spot on. It could possibly simply be timing for this reviewer, but would recommend this read to others.
Dominic Taylor and Matt Harris have been friendly rivals – with occasional benefits – for a few years. With the downturn in the economy, though, Matt’s business is struggling. Dom, whose company is doing well, offers Matt a bet that could help save Matt’s company. But the terms of the bet would literally put Matt’s ass on the line and change the dynamic of their friendship.
As the deadline approaches, they graduate from making out to making love, raising the stakes as they each come to terms with what they really want, and what really matters.
No matter who wins, there will be no going back for either one of them. Because the winner takes all.
