Nikki Kimball has seen her share of heartache with a cheating ex-husband, a no-good jailbird of a brother and overly critical parents that believe that anything that Nik does is wrong. The greatest joy in Nikki’s life is saving and boarding abused horses. Her independence and being able to provide a safe haven for these animal’s means everything to her. Then one day, when Nikki comes home from picking up a new horse, she is shocked to find that everything she has worked for has been stolen. Her brother decided while she was away in the next state to take everything in Nikki’s house and clean out her bank accounts as well.
Distraught and not knowing what to do, her close friend and neighbor, Dillan Barnett steps in and offers Nikki a place to stay until things get straightened out and the police locate her thieving brother. Nikki has always been attracted to Dillan, but he has never shown any interest in taking their relationship to the next level. Dillan’s foster brother, Brett, on the other hand, has been attracted to Nikki since their high school days. Nikki is unaware that both brothers would like to pursue a romantic relationship with her. As time progresses, Nikki is torn because society dictates that she needs to make a choice between these two men when her heart loves them both.
I was pleasantly surprised with this novel because I usually read conventional one man-one woman romances. The ménage-a-trois relationship that takes place in this novel was extremely erotic and the sex scenes were very hot. I could understand Nikki’s dilemma because she has always cared for these two men and she couldn’t make the decision between them since it would break her heart. I could see her finally accepting after all her years of heartache that these two men would do anything for her and that she could finally find a place that she could belong without being judged. This was a very light read that anyone can finish in an afternoon and I enjoyed it immensely.
