This was an erotic historical romance that starts with an intriguing scandal and progresses from there. The two main characters are apparently maneuvered into a compromising position and provide a titillating mystery for Society (and the reader) while Benjamin Wallace, Lord Heathton, is forced into investigating at the behest of his familial connections even as he is also being coerced into a much more personal and pertinent exploration. The progress of both quests provides a very entertaining counterpoint even as all of the major characters discover more about both their sensual natures and their true personalities. Benjamin will need to draw on the expertise that he developed while discreetly serving his country even as he learns that there is much he still must discover about being a married man including the realization that his wife is more than just a beautiful decoration in his home. I greatly enjoyed watching both relationships develop depth and blossom even as I was amused and touched at Benjamin’s fumbling attempts to grasp what was being demanded of him. This story was an enjoyable blend of sensuality and romance and I look forward to more adventures featuring Benjamin’s investigative prowess and hopefully, his wife’s ingenuity.
Randolph Raine, Lord Andrews, is known as the Raven and is a much sought-after rake due to his seductive prowess. His disappearance, which coincides with that of Lady Elena Morrow, the daughter of Lord Whitbridge, threatens to tarnish the heretofore spotless reputation of the beautiful debutante who is engaged to Lord Colbert. Alicia Wallace, Lady Heathton, is Elena’s cousin, and seeks to engage her husband Benjamin’s intellect and pique his curiosity, not only about her cousin’s disappearance but about the status of their own relationship. A game of wits between multiple players results in a fascinating quest which, hopefully, will result in a positive outcome for all concerned but there are no guarantees in life, especially when the rules of the game are only known to a select few. A sensual and entertaining read.

When Lady Elena Morrow, the reigning belle of the ton, suddenly disappears, her family is desperate to find her—and to keep the story from spreading through London society like wildfire, before her reputation is ruined. Benjamin Wallace, Lord Heathton, is more accustomed to untangling political difficulties, rather than those of the heart. But when he is pressured to help find Lady Elena, he can’t refuse—the distraught father is also his wife’s uncle. Now he must find the beautiful debutante before the connection to Andrews does away with her innocence—assuming the vulnerable young lady wants to be found.…
