Corporate Desires

Corporate Desires started at a very slow pace, filled with extensive back-story to set the stage for a much better written second half

Edna has sunken to a new low, as a new parolee imprisoned for tax evasion, she finds herself back where she started so long ago; living with her overbearing mother and consistently harassed by her lecherous parole officer.

In attempting to pick up the pieces of her shattered life, Edna is starting a new job as an administrative assistant at a vacation rental real estate agency. It seems like the perfect way to begin a new chapter of her life; little did she know that her past is about to put in an unwanted appearance.

There were times as the novel progressed that I found Edna’s interaction and dialog with her mother to be just a little to overbearing, degrading and overall unpleasant. As a reader, while I could and did sympathize with Edna’s situation, I aslo felt a degree of anger towards her for allowing herself to be manipulated by her mother, harassed by her parole officer and subjugated by her Boss, Lipsky.

I laughed and gagged at the hilarity of the lengths that Lipsky was willing to go to ensure Edna’s continued attentions. Not being a great fan of books that focus on the Domme/sub relationships, I was very happy when the main focus of the novel shifted from Edna’s relationship with Lipsky to her relationship with Burton.

I was surprised that the initial fire and sparks between Edna and Burton extinguished as fast as they started. Seduced by Burton’s wit and confidence, Like Edna, I assumed that Burton was an experienced Dom. Misconceptions, lack of knowledge and training derailed all of Burton's plans before he even got started. I really like that Burton was determined to have a relationship with Edna and felt that he need to invest some time in fully understanding what the lifestyle entailed in order to give Edna what she desired and needed. His commitment to the relationship was evident in his willingness, albeit reluctantly at first, to accept assistance from the local the Domme, mistress platinum. His initial visit to one of her Domme meetings was hilariously written. I liked that the visit dispelled so many of his conception of the lifestyle.

Although the book was slow to get started, it did produce some extremely hot and steamy encounters and provide some insight into the lifestyle.
