Incoming Freshman

Book thirteen in the Campus Cravings Series

The Campus Cravings series by Carol Lynne is one of my all-time favorite homoerotic romance series. I was extremely disappointed when I thought Ms. Lynne had decided to end the series a couple of years ago. So, when I discovered that not only has Ms. Lynne written another book for the series, she's going to continue writing more of them, I was overjoyed! Incoming Freshman, was a great book to resume a well-loved series. This May/December romance was full of interesting twists and turns, and it was fun seeing how some of the previous characters in the series are doing.

Coach Chet Sloan has been fighting his attraction and deep feelings for Bobby Ray Sikes for over three years. He had watched the younger man become a football star at his high school, and he knew that Bobby Ray was good enough to be a professional football player. Chet had actively scouted Bobby Ray, but when he finally was able to meet and get to know the handsome, talented younger man in person Chet knew that his forbidden feelings for the younger man was what he thought was inappropriate and put the younger man's bright professional football career in danger. So, Chet left his job as Coach and transferred to N.C.I.U. and left Bobby Ray behind.

Bobby Ray has been expected to play football and play well ever since he could remember. But, the older he gets, the more disenchanted he is playing the game. Plus, he never forgot the budding feelings of love he felt for Coach Sloan three years ago. Determined to be in Chet's life, Bobby transfers to N.C.I.U. his senior year on a football scholarship. But, as Bobby and Chet are forced to deal with the attraction and the love they have between them, Bobby is also guarding a secret that not only puts his football career at stake, but Chet's love for him too.

I LOVED LOVED LOVED this book! As I stated before, I adore this series, and Ms. Lynne's easy style of writing and ability to draw her readers into the uniquely sexy and entertaining worlds that she creates, made Incoming Freshman a book that has a firm place on my keeper shelf. Even though this book can be read easily as a stand-alone story in the series, I highly recommend reading the books in series order.

All the characters in this series are well written, likeable, sexy men who work hard to achieve not only their own personal goals, but they work hard to have a healthy and happy relationship with their partners too. It's guaranteed that not only will Ms. Lynne's fans be more than satisfied with the newest book in the series, she'll earn new readers that once they read Incoming Freshman, they will quickly become fans of the series too!

Series: To be read in order

Three years ago, Chet Sloan left a promising job as Offensive Line Coach at the University of Arizona in an effort to put distance between himself and an Incoming Freshman. Bobby Ray Sikes first came to Chet’s attention as a high school sophomore when he took his small Arkansas town’s football team to a state championship. For two years Chet watched Bobby Ray Sikes play, knowing the boy was meant for greatness. When he recognized his feelings had grown from adoration to something more, Chet ran. In an effort to save his career and Bobby Ray Sikes’s chance to one day go professional, Chet took a job at North Central Idaho University.

For three years, Bobby Ray Sikes played for a team he hated. Not only was he expected to act like the rest of the guys on the team, but the one man he’d agreed to play for had left him high and dry. After reading an article on BK House, a privately funded all-gay dormitory, in OUT magazine, he decides to do the unthinkable and transfer colleges his senior year.

Most coaches would be thrilled to learn a two time All American was transferring in to play ball for their team, but Chet’s feelings for Bobby Ray Sikes haven’t changed. Will he be forced to run again or can he coach the man he loves?
