Twins, Burke and Cole share more than looks. Security Professionals who specialize in retrieval they are on the brink of a major mission to save the relative of friends who has been sold into the sex slave underworld. Fate puts Jessa in their path at just this time, and when they finally claim her they know she’s the one for them. Having to lie to maintain their cover doesn’t sit well, but they vow to return to the woman they love as soon as possible. Leaving her a contact number is the best they can do.
Jessa is innocent but not naïve. When Cole and Burke come into the bar she’s working at she knows trouble when she sees it but can’t seem to resist them. After a quick courtship of a few days they fall into bed and love. She wakes with visions of forever but her naïveté shows her otherwise when the men she is sure love her, have said they do, tell her they have to disappear but will return for her. A slip of paper is all she has to remember them by with a phone number, which she promptly loses. When repercussions from their night make themselves known she tries to contact them and instead finds out that everything they told her is a lie. What’s a woman to do?
What draws a woman to the bad boy? If only we knew. And poor Jessa can’t resist two of them. Cole and Burke were like two sides of a coin, and really couldn’t function well without one another. This presented problems with relationships that seemed to disappear when they found Jessa. The one who could complete them they were devastated when they had to leave her to fulfill their duty. When they return, much later than anticipated, and are told she’s been married by the private investigator they hired to keep an eye on her, they tuck tail and hide in their own misery. Kind of touching, but where did the alpha males go?
Jessa is shocked when Cole and Burke show up when she needs them most. Where have they been? As she is whisked from danger she slowly begins to get information about who, and what, they are. Can she live with it?
Danger, tension, fear, anxiety and sex. The reunion of Jessa and her men was convoluted at best but it was a trial by fire that showed her what they are made of and what she means to them. They left Jessa a confused woman in love but when they returned she was a woman who’d been through hell alone and had the strength to show for it. They had to work to regain her trust and with it her love. While she never stopped loving them she wouldn’t allow herself to be taken advantage of again, even though that isn’t what happened. The climax of the book was the eye-opener she needed to let go of her pain and resentment and move forward with the men she loves. With appearances of characters from the first book in the series Their Virgin Captive and an introduction to the next book in the series brothers this was a well rounded read that entertained and enticed.
