Everyone likes to come home, but what if you can't? Becky is a woman with no past, at least one she doesn't want to share with just anybody. Is she ashamed? I don't know if I'd call it that, since it's the only life she knew. It's truly a miracle she had the ability to leave the environment she was bred for let alone venture out on her own. She is the definition of a strong woman and that is part of what attracts Trevor.
Trevor is the easy going Coleman who is able to smooth things over, always has a smile or an encouraging word. But he's starting to look at his matched siblings and cousins and starting to crave what they have. When he meets Becky, he knows deep down she's the one but he has to earn her trust, not to mention her attention.
This story had a bit of mystery running through it, with the author providing clues as to Becky's origins at a slow pace. In fact the whole developing romance between Trevor and Becky was slow and organic. Becky opened up as she felt more comfortable, both emotionally and physically. And Travis proved over and over he's a man she can depend on. This book had a different twist in the sex department that I would have liked to have seen resolved, but I hope that will be addressed in the next book.
The book moved a tad bit slow at times with a lot of detail and simple interaction between the characters, but that built the relationship. I would recommend visiting the family tree sometime located on the author's website because there are a ton of characters and they have a tendency to reproduce.
Some light was shed on the mysteries in the Coleman family that have been hovering in the background throughout the whole series, as well as some explanation for the sibling dynamic between the generation before Trevor. And it ain't pretty. But life is a circle, and that is illustrated prominently throughout the book. As the author forewarned, it can be read without reading all the previous books, but where is the fun in that?
Innocence and passion are an addictive mix...The dark-haired stranger next door triggers every protective instinct Trevor Coleman never knew he had. From the moment Becky Hall literally falls into his arms, the last man standing of the Moonshine clan doesn't even attempt to resist sweet temptation. Becky is beautiful, mysterious and heartbreakingly vulnerable...and he's a goner.
To escape the hell she was trapped in, Becky left everything behind but her courage. And for once in her life, good people step up to make a difference. A helping hand, a new job...a very attentive and libido-stroking neighbour. Now a new future awaits, one that shockingly includes sexual pleasure instead of icy pain, and a sexy cowboy who's more than eager to show her the ropes.
Becky's sweet smiles and seductive innocence draw him in like nectar, and Trevor knows one taste will never be enough. But with secrets thicker than a bumper crop, changing a life will take more than a new ID and a cowboy's good intentions.
It's gonna take sacrifice to break these chains.
Warning: boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl--all hell breaks loose. We've got a hero whose hands are tied in more ways than one. A heroine who wants to experience everything she's ever missed, and a family that needs to discover if its roots go deep enough to weather any storm.
