Oh how I’ve looked forward to Joel’s story. I was initially anticipating a menage with his twin Jesse, as it has been bantered about in all previous books about their proclivity for sharing, but the other did the complete opposite. Joel, unlike Jesse, is growing up and decides to leave behind the fun and games he and his twin had with girls. When he’s approached by Vicki Hanson to help her get over her phobia of horses to pursue a job outside of Rocky Mountain Home he agrees. Given Vicki’s reputation, or rather the reputation of her mother and sister that has bled onto her, Joel and Vicki decide to perpetuate that they are an item. That leads to them really becoming an item, and the big secret Vicki is holding close is enough to throw Joel for a loop.
With the vigor only the young have Joel and Vicki amuse and amaze with their creativity and continuity in having sex everywhere and anywhere, managing to get caught a number of times. I found this immensely amusing, as well as Joel using sexual favors as incentive for Vicki’s training with horses. The ending was fitting for the age of the characters and I liked that it was left open but with a definitive commitment. I ended the book feeling good and felt this was an exciting and unexpected addition to the Six Pack Ranch Series. I enjoyed the author’s weaving of how reputation and reality are not even close in most cases and how people take word of mouth as fact a little too far. I anxiously await the next book in the series.
The best type of growing up involves getting down and dirty.
Vicki Hansol made different choices than her less-than-reputable mom and sister, yet her fiery temper has left her branded with the same town-bad-girl label. When she desperately needs a change of scenery, her get-out-of-town-free ticket arrives—and requires she face down one of her deepest fears.
Easygoing Joel Coleman has nothing to complain about, but he’s never really done anything to brag about either. The youngest member of the Six Pack Ranch is looking to make some changes in his life that include stepping out from under his twin brother’s shadow.
So when the bold beauty with the smart mouth approaches him with a proposition, Joel is intrigued. Her request for him to teach her to ride soon takes on a whole new meaning. All that passion in his arms, his bed, in the barn…hell, anywhere he can get it? Bring it on.
But tangling the sheets leads to unanticipated complications, and by the time the dust settles, everything family means is going to be challenged.
Warning: Saddle up for some youthful vigor applied with great enthusiasm. Ropes, rails and raunchy sex—there’s more places to get dirty around the ranch than first meets the eye.
