Hallelujah! Finally a hero who isn't drop dead gorgeous. Strange attitude perhaps, but it's refreshing to read about an average alien, if not downright scary, finding his true love and her only seeing his inner beauty. I was drawn to Grav in the first book and he didn't disappoint me at all. He's dedicated and loyal and totally honest. And he has a potty mouth that I just found adorable.
Grav's intended Leah is a woman who is coming out of her shell and not liking what she's backed herself into. She wants out but doesn't know how to go about it all. Grav to the rescue and all, and the two of them are off on an adventure across the galaxy.
Kudos to Leah for not spending the whole book with her mouth hanging open in shock. I thought she adapted quite well but didn't embrace it as well as her best friend Zoe in the first book. She too is dealing with the psychotic maniac seeking one of "her kind" to procreate with. I thought the author went out on a limb with the human the assimilated life form took over, but personally found it hilarious; I'm sure there are some who will be outraged. Have a sense of humor, people.
Enjoyed this thoroughly but not as much as the first. Grav's stoic morality got a little trying and I felt for Leah in her pursuit of her "man." Really looking forward to Charlotte's story with the mysterious and oh so sexy Verrai.
Grav N’gol is many things. Murderer…ex-con…Alien half-breed…
And a Protector.
More than just a bodyguard, a Protector chooses a female to ward for life and swears an oath to die for her if necessary.
Enter Leah Roth. The luscious little Earth female is supposed to be just a quick surveillance gig for Grav. He’ll check on her and report back that she’s okay—it should be easy.
Only she’s not okay.
When Grav sees Leah’s abusive husband hurting her, he swings into action. Before he knows it, he has Leah aboard his ship. When he’s given a dangerous and difficult mission, Leah volunteers to come alone and help…and somehow Grav can’t say no.
But as much as he feels drawn to the lovely little human, Grav knows it can never be between them. For in his past lurks a bloody and savage secret that would turn even the most forgiving heart against him.
From his past and from his true nature Leah must be...Protected at all costs.
