This is a surprising sexy short story that is a branch off of this author's famous 'Cut & Run' series. The two main characters, Nick and Kelly, have been side characters off and on throughout that series. This story picks up right after Kelly has been shot in one of the 'Cut and Run' stories. Nick comes home to help care for him. The two men have been close friends for years, and have been members of the same Marine Force Recon team. Finding out that Nick and another team member are gay has brought out a lot of curiosity in Kelly. He has a million questions for Nick and wants to try a few things himself. What this leads to are some hot, hot, scenes. I mean, really hot.
These two will have their own series, so I suppose this story is meant to be a stand alone. You could definitely read it on its own, although you may miss some of the references and inside jokes. Nevertheless, it's a good read. These guys are great together. They have years of solid friendship to build a relationship on, and while this is just the beginning, it promises to be both sexy and romantic.
After barely surviving a shootout in New Orleans, Sidewinder medic Kelly Abbott has to suffer through a month of recovery before he can return home to Colorado. He’s not surprised when fellow Sidewinder Nick O’Flaherty stays with him in New Orleans. Nor is he surprised when Nick travels home with him to help him get back on his feet—after all, years on the same Marine Force Recon team bonded the men in ways that only bleeding for a brother can. He’s very surprised, though, when Nick humors his moment of curiosity and kisses him.
Nick knows all of Kelly’s quirks and caprices, so the kiss was a low-risk move on his part . . . or so he thought. But what should’ve been a simple moment unleashes a flood of confusing emotions and urges that neither man is prepared to address.
Now, Kelly and Nick must figure out what they mean to each other—friends and brothers in arms, or something even deeper?—before the past can come back to ruin their tenuous future.
