The Dungeon

Kendall Hall has a budding career as the head chef of an increasingly popular restaurant and star of her own cooking show. Even though she is enjoying the spoils from her new found success she finds that something is missing from her life. After a chance meeting at her restaurant, Kendall comes into contact with a member of The Dungeon, an exclusive BDSM club that caters in finding Doms and subs their perfect partners. Kendall jumps in feet first into this new venture and gets an anonymous toy that she thoroughly enjoys beating into submission every chance she gets. Little does she know that her new toy is actually her business partner, Magnus Richards. If anyone found out about the couples dark games they could lose everything. But as the couple develop a bond inside and outside of the club, it becomes harder for them to keep their closely held secret from one another. Will their new relationship be able to stand up to pressure if their secret is revealed?

I had to really think about how I was going to review this story. After I finished it I was originally going to pan this novella to hell and back, but after a while the story won me over. The Dungeon is pure erotic fantasy, and I have to allow that sometimes with fantasies you have to overlook the lack of minor details to enjoy it. It read as if the author just cobbled together as many bdsm clichés together as the author could find and added them to the story with a few tweaks here and there to make it original. Having said that, I actually will recommend this book because of the unadulterated fun that oozes from the pages; the most successful parts of the story were in drawing a tight relationship between Kendall and her best friend. Their scenes were hilarious to read and really grounded the story out a lot. I was not initially sold on Magnus and Kendall, but as the story progressed I began intrigued with their relationship and wanted to read more about them. I look forward to reading more from Velvet in the future.
