“Christmas in Cedarwood” is a sweet but sexy novella that evokes both the joy and excitement of the season and the cautious give and take of a relationship that is still in the growing-pains stage. I love the portrayal of the ups and downs that accompany the feelings of insecurity even as the love grows, and the author made me feel the challenges of blending a family and balancing work obligations with personal time. I would have liked to get a bit more depth to the characters but I did like the sizzle and romance that was depicted and I hope these characters come back for a longer story at some point. Given the backstory, I suspect there may have been previous tales that I missed, but there was no problem reading this as a stand-alone tale.
An unexpected bonus was the inclusion of the story, “Single in Springdale.” I was delighted to read a story featuring an older hero, and I enjoyed both the sweet doggy secondary characters and the heat that grows between the older Len and the younger Isaac. It felt like this was an addition to a series but that did not detract from this story, just made me curious to read about the secondary characters who are mentioned.
I thought that both of these stories were great for a quick light romantic but spicy read and I look forward to enjoying more stories from this author.
